Tristan Raës began learning the piano at the age of 6. After a Premier Prix at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and a Médaille d’Or at the Lille Conservatory, he entered Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 1999, where he obtained his prize and higher education diploma in 2002, with Bruno Rigutto. In the same year, he received second prize and the “Contemporary Music” prize at the Moravian Competition (Czech Republic); then follows the higher course of chamber music in the classes of Marie-Francoise Bucquet and Daria Hovora.


He works in parallel with Nicholas Angelich, Pascal Devoyon, and Pierre Boulez - on the occasion of the execution of one of his works.


In 2004, Tristan Raës recorded the complete chamber music for 2 pianos by Francis Poulenc, in duet with his father Alain Raës. He then entered the instrumental accompaniment class of Jean Koerner then in the vocal accompaniment class of Anne Le Bozec, from which he obtained the prizes unanimously in 2007 and 2009. A few months later, he received the first prize for piano in the Nadia and Lili Boulanger competition in Paris.


In 2013, he won first prize, the special prize from the Bayer Foundation, and the public prize at the Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon (CIMCL), in duet with Cyrille Dubois, tenor. In the process, they recorded together the disc "Clairières dans le ciel", which received the diamond from Opéra Magazine, then two discs in partnership with the Palazzetto Bru Zane, devoted to Félicien David and Nadia and Lili Boulanger. In 2019, their album “O lieb! », dedicated to Franz Liszt, won the Diapason d'or and the Choc Classica. In 2022 they published the complete songs of Gabriel Fauré on a triple CD at Aparté.


Tristan Raës has performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Palazzetto Bru Zane in Venice, the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, the Louvre auditorium, the French Institute in Russia (Moscow), the Hamarikyu Asahi Tokyo Lobby...


He plays in recital, in chamber music, and with orchestra in many festivals, such as the Pablo Casals festival, the Tempo Festival, the Pianofolies du Touquet, the Lagrasse Festival, Ars terra, and also performs during the Saison Musicale des Invalides.


For many years, he has also held the position of vocal coach/assistant at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris.
