About the event
On November 24, the birthday of composer Helen Buchholtz (1877-1953), the MuGi.lu research group invites you to celebrate this occasion with a program combining music, research and a friendly moment around a birthday cake.
Under the title "Fremde Freundinnen. Clara Schumann und Pauline Viardot" (Fream Friends: Clara Schumann and Pauline Viardot), Beatrix Borchard (em. Professor at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater) will recount the friendship of these two exceptional composers—one German and one French—portrayed by actresses Monique Hartmann and Corina Ostafi . Their lieder and melodies will be performed by Noémie Sunnen (soprano) and Tatsiana Molakava (piano).
The MuGi.lu team will then present the current state of its research on Luxembourgish women musicians. MuGi.lu is a project initiated in 2022 by the CID | Fraen an Gender and the University of Luxembourg, which aims to study the history of music from a gender perspective.
